CELTIC MUSIC

Wylde Nept  is more than just another band with a satchel full of Irish songs. It is a cast of colorful characters that specialize in charging up a crowd with raucous pub tunes from all over the Celtic and sea-faring world. Wylde Nept has always made each show more of an event than a concert, drawing the audience into the music and making the crowd part of the entertainment.  In addition to playing the traditional music of the Celtic lands, Wylde Nept plays their own original songs in the Celtic style, and has released three albums. www.wyldenept.com OR www.myspace.com/wyldenept

Orckes & Trolles  is a vocal and instrumental music group that specializes in Medieval, Renaissance, and Celtic songs.  Their music can best be described as "alternative madrigal," mixing madcap stage antics with vocal and instrumental music. The group has released 2 CD recordings.  Visit their web site at http://members.aol.com/orckes/

Celtic Harpists  Barb Evenson and Kristin Maahs have been a performing duo on the celtic harps for the last three years. They attended the Cairde na Cruite harp school in Termonfeckin, Ireland in 2005. They perform regularly at the Irish Jam session at Java Joe's in Des Moines and Dublin Bay in Ames. Barb is a music teacher in the Ames Public Schools and is an accomplished pianist performing with the Ames Choral Society and Good Company: A  Women's Choral Ensemble.  Kristin is a freelance harpist who performs on concert harp as well as celtic harp. Kristin has played with many groups including the Des Moines Metro Opera, the Chieftains, and the Odyssey Trio.

It is currently is a non-competitive, performance band, that strives for excellence in musicianship in the tunes they play.  www.blackhawkpipeband.com
