CHILDREN'S HIGHLAND GAMES

Children may participate in any (or all) of 5 different games:
1. Stone Throw
2. Toss the Haggis
3. Caberette Toss
4. Sheep Riever (Champion Sheep Thief)
5. Sheep Droppings Relay (malted milk balls will be used, instead of the "real thing"!)

1:45 p.m. - ages 5 and under
2:30 p.m. - ages 6 - 9
3:15 p.m. - ages 10 and up

IOWA SCOTTISH PIPES & DRUMS

Based in Central Iowa, the Iowa Scottish Pipes and Drums were founded originally from the membership of the Iowa Scottish Heritage Society in 1975.  Over the last twenty years the band has played for many high profile events, including the Archbishop of Canterbury's visit to Iowa, the Inaugural Ball for the Governor of Iowa, the World Scottish Festival in Montreal and the Victorian Society national convention.  They are only Iowa band that competes actively in Midwest Pipe Band Association games, fielding both Grade 3 and Grade 5 pipe bands in competition.  Visit their web site to find out more!  http://www.iowascottish.com/

STAPLETON SCHOOL OF HIGHLAND DANCE 

Based in Iowa City, the school draws dancers interested in traditional Scottish dancing, both Highland and National. Teacher Anne Stapleton is a member of the British Association of Teachers of Dancing (B.A.T.D.) and the Federation of United States Teachers and Adjudicators (F.U.S.T.A.). She has taught Scottish dance for over 20 years and welcomes beginners as well as experienced dancers.

MAOLISA STEP DANCERS

Maolisa (pronounced: mail isa) is Celtic for "Follower of Jesus Christ".  The Irish Step Dance Troupe was founded in February 2004, and has performed at nursing/retirement homes and churches in the area.  The dancers are: Hannah Catron, Isaac Newton Christian Academy; Taylor Gould, Prairie Middle School; Anne Gray, Home School, Middle School; Abby Tomlinson, Franklin Middle School; Jessica McDaniel, Linn Mar High School; Jessibeth Munson, Kirkwood Community College.  Instructor is Kaleena Munson, University of Iowa.  The troupe also features two flute players and a singer.    Web Site
